BANGLADESH ICL CRICKETERS CONFUSED

ICL’s Bangladeshi cricketers offered amnesty by Bangladesh cricket board(BCB). But Bangladeshi rival cricketer’s confused to take it. Aftab, Nazim Uddin are very keen to come back in Bangladesh national team, but other’s are not very hopeful to come back. Mohammad rafique, Tapash Baishya, Monjurul islam are out of consideration for national team. So why they deny to earn a huge amount of money for cancelling the ICL’s agreement? Alok Kapali and Shahriar Nafees have the potential to come back in national team. But they are not hopeful due to their previous experiences. So they may not return. But Habibul Bashar is in comlex position. He may not consider for national team, but if he come back he may return the honour from BCB as the most successful captain of Bangladesh cricket team.
So it is a complex position, only 3-5 players may take the offer of BCB.

BCB offers conditioned amnesty for ICL cricketers

Bangladesh cricket board(BCB) has declared general amnesty to the rival ICL players. Some conditions are applied, they should cancel all relation with ICL before 15th june. After 15th june they can participate domestic leagues and they will be considered for national team after December.
In September last year, the BCB imposed 10-year bans on 14 players, including former national captain Habibul Bashar and several promising test players.
Bangladesh's players joined the Dhaka Warriors team in the ICL — a Twenty20 league that is not internationally recognized because it runs rivals the officially sanctioned Indian Premier League.

Inzamam slams U-turn on ICL players

Former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq Friday lashed out at Pakistan for making a U-turn on selecting cricketers from an unrecognised Indian league and succumbing to "pressure."

Pakistan selectors Monday named three rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) players -- Abdul Razzaq, Rana Naved-ul Hasan and Imran Nazir -- in a preliminary 30-man squad for the Twenty20 World Cup in England in June.

The selectors said the trio were included subject to clearance from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

But the next day, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) dropped the trio, saying they were not included in the 30-man list sent to the ICC.

The PCB has sought clarification from the ICL on the status of Pakistani players' contracts before taking a final decision on their inclusion.

Inzamam criticised the sudden about-turn.

"I think the PCB succumbed to the pressure from the ICC. If there were rules barring the PCB not to include the ICL players then why didn't our board know these rules," Inzamam told AFP.

The ICL -- bankrolled in 2007 by India's largest media Group, Zee television -- was not recognised by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the ICC and players taking part in it were barred by member countries.

The high court in Pakistan's southern province of Sindh, however, cleared all Pakistani players in the rebel league last February, paving the way for their return to domestic cricket and into contention for the national side.

Inzamam said ICL players would strengthen the national side.

"Why is Pakistan taking pressure from the ICC and the BCCI? If they include ICL players then our team will become very strong and will perform better.

"Look at India. Pakistan and India were standing at the same place in 2007 after we both were knocked out of the World Cup (in West Indies) in the first round but with ICL and IPL (Indian Premier League) they have gained a lot."

Inzamam accused the ICC of fearing private leagues because of the threat to sponsorships.

"I see only one reason for the ICC's opposition to the ICL and that is they have to share finances as private leagues also take away sponsorhips, which is a danger for them," said Inzamam.

Inzamam, who retired from international cricket in 2007, lamanted the ban.

"Why are we keeping ICL players away from international cricket? It's unjust and I hope the PCB reviews its decision. We must fight for the cause beneficial for us," said Inzamam.

The ICC said it would discuss the ICL issue at its executive board meeting in Dubai on April 17 and 18.

ICL players turn back to mainstream

Mohammad Yousuf was left out but three of his Indian Cricket League colleagues on Monday were surprisingly picked by Pakistan selectors among 30 probables for the Twenty20 World Cup to be held in England this June.

Abdul Razzaq, Rana Naved and Imran Nazir, who featured in the ICL, have been included in Pakistan’s preliminary squad but according to chairman of selectors Abdul Qadir, their final selection will be subject to clearance by the Cricket Board.

“But let me make it clear their final selection depends totally on them being cleared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which is awaiting guidelines from the International Cricket Council (ICC),” Qadir told a press conference in Lahore.

Regarding the trio’s inclusion in the probables, the former leg-spinner said they were playing domestic cricket and were among the best Twenty20 players in Pakistan.

All-rounders, Razzaq and Naved and destructive opener Nazir have been performing outstandingly on the domestic circuit since they were cleared by the Sindh High Court to play domestic cricket some weeks ago.

Naved and Imran turned out for Lahore Badshahs while Razzaq played for Hyderabad Heroes in the ICL.

However, the selectors chose to ignore senior batsman Yousuf — he also turned out for the Badshahs — despite the fact that he was willing to rescind his contract with the ICL.

The PCB has now asked the ICC and its legal advisors to give a ruling on whether the ICL rebels can make a comeback to the national team without facing any penalties if they cancel their ICL contracts.

Qadir said the selection of these three depended on what the ICC had to say on the issue.

“We were asked to pick the best possible squad for the T20 World Cup and we have done our duty,” he said, putting the ball on the PCB’s court.

The ICC Executive Board will meet on April 16 to debate on Pakistan’s request.

Among those included in the probables were pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar and leg-spinner Danish Kaneria.

Akhtar was included after he passed a fitness test while skipper Younis Khan wanted Kaneria in the squad.

“We have also included young leg-spinner Yasir Shah in the probables list and hopefully we will be able to field a strong final 15 for the tournament,” Qadir said.

The selectors have named several youngsters in the probables but also made some surprising exclusions like pace bowler Abdul Rauf and opener Khurrum Manzoor, who recently played in the one-day and Test series against Sri Lanka.

Qadir said Rauf was not considered since he was not fit.

Pakistan probables for T20 World Cup: Younis Khan (captain), Salman Butt, Nasir Jamshed, Khalid Latif, Shahzab Hasan, Umar Amin, Ahmed Shahzad, Misbah-ul-Haq, Faisal Iqbal, Fawad Alam, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Sohail Tanvir, Yasir Arafat, Kamran Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Rao Iftikhar, Aitzaz Cheema, Mohammad Aamir, Wahab Riaz, Imran Ali, Danish Kaneria, Yasir Shah, Kamran Akmal, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Abdul Razzaq, Rana Naved, Imran Nazir, Abdul Rehman.

ICL: Potential Future Ahead!

ICL is the hot issue in cricket world during last year, When ICL starts twenty20 cricket tournament without permission of BCCI and ICC. In this response BCCI banned the ICL players for lifetime from all kinds of authorized cricket. Ultimately, this decision given by ICC because, they don’t want to irritate BCCI. And any other board cannot overtake BCCI due to their commercial needs with India. India is not suffered by ICL, but other countries suffered. Mainly Pakistan, their ICL team supposed stronger than Pakistan national cricket team. No one dares to say against BCCI. But now I want to express you how can ICL challenges BCCI & ICC.
ICL cricketers are banned from all kinds of authorized cricket. So they play only ICL league just for 3or 4 months. Rest of the year they are totally free. In contrast with authorized cricketers, they busy with international test series, one day series and their home cricket. So if ICL can use their cricketers properly they can do a revolution on cricket.
India is the main market of all kinds of cricket. And Indians are spread around the world. ICL can arrange twenty20 cricket tournament in America or Europe, where cricket not played regularly. Twenty20 form of cricket is very much attractive than traditional test and ODI cricket. It is a short time entertainment which desires the American and Europians. And they would introduce with the non resident Indians. So I think it’s a very potential field of twenty20 cricket and thus cricket would be spread among the world. There is no risk of success, because TV rights money would cover the total cost if there spectators refused to see cricket in field. ICL has potential to arrange four tournaments in four different venue of the world. The venues can be USA, Canada, Germany, spain and in asia united arab emirates.
These places have very good chance to be potential markets of future cricket. But authorized cricket organizers couldn’t arrange amusing cricket here due to busy schedule of all test playing countries. So ICL has a very good chance to spread cricket in this region because their cricketers have enough time to play.
If this process succed, cricket would not be under control of ICC and BCCI. An alternative cricket platform will build. Would it good for ICC & BCCI? But I think cricket would not under in any threat because cricket is not the copyrighted property of BCCI.
Would ICL authorities and BCCI think over it?
